Gaul's Cantata ".lomi of Arc" was given sura'»tully by the Loilding Choral Society this week. Miss Louise Crouclier was leader of the orchestra. Mrs. Acourt (soprano) and Mr. Anderson, b6th of Sandon, nnd Jlr. Macedo (bariione), of Feilding, were the soloists. Mr. H. Temple White wns conductor of the concert. Sergeant Bowden, in his aniuifll ranort. to the Oroua Licensing Bench, stated that, wiili a population of 1(I,C!18 in tho electorate, there were -If convictions for drunkenness for the past year, and, of these, .'l7 were persons from other centres. No females were arrested for drunkenness or for any other charge. There had also been no orders against females The new licensing legislation, preventing persons under 21 from being served with liquor, had proved of beneficial effect. The whole district had a wholwomc record.
