The barometer has fallen everywhere almost uniformly, with moderate to strong northerly winds, increasing cloudiness, and rain in many parts of tho country. Present indications are for rain and unsettled weather even-where. Westerly winds, strong to gale, are probable generally, though variable in the southern districts for a time. ' Barometric pressure is low and very unsteady.. A temporary rise is probable soon in the south, but a further fall is likely to precede a decided rise, and cold and stormy weather from the south, and snow in the South Island. D. C. BATES. Ho<lgo reported at 6 p.m. for the previous twentyfour hours as follows:—Temperature, in shade, maximum 61djeg., minimum 34.4 dcg.; mean, 48.7deg.; earth radiation, 31.5 deg.
