THE HOUNDS AT TE MATAI.
ENJOYABLE RUN. (By Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, June 7. Fine weather prevailed for the Manawatu Hunt Club's meet at Te Matai, near Palmerston, this afternoon, and there was a largo field of followers. Three runs were made, those being- over, the proj>erties of Messrs. Littlejohn, Pukloski, Nielsen, Kensington, Dearlove, Woodfield, Byers, M'Ewen, Sly,'Petersen, and Jounneaux. Mr. J. I'. Connor, deputy-master (on Ennerdale)'was in charge of the field, which comprised: Messrs. 11. R. Lancaster, on Princess; Ta Shaw (whip), on Merrylegs; 11. Webby, on Buoyant; F. Little, on Rajah; F. G. Bailey, on Saronic; J. Sweeney (huntsman), on Silver Shell; J. Flanagan, on General; M. Regan, on Old Ireland; J. Crook, on Dingo; Shaw, on Black Jack; ,T. L. Buick, on Volley; A. Buick, on Flying Cloud; L. M'Ewen, on Miss Bibbcro; A. Robinson, on Missie; G. Lancaster, on Tho Rogue. Tho drags were laid by Messrs. G. Lancaster and Fisher. Mr. Siveeney had the hounds in fine running fottle. ne, however, had tho misfortune to como to grief through his horse getting into a liolo and falling, tho huntsman having his shoulder dislocated. There was a large crowd of spectators, driving, riding, and on foot, these including a largo number of ladies, and all enjoying the sport. At the conclusion of the hunt the followers and spectators were entertained at afternoon-tea by Mr. and Mrs. Connor, the latter being assisted by a number of lady friends. Mr. H. D. Buchanan thanked Mr. and Mrs. Connor for their hospitality, and the property-owners for the use of their paddocks, the proceedings terminating with hearty cheers.
