AN ENGLISH VIEW. In the House of Common? in April, Sir Jolm Barron n.-kt'd the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention liail been drawn to the recent absorption' of Argentine meat freezing factories by Chicago packing interests, and tlio possibility that this process would be still further extended, and what steps had been, or were being, taken by the Board of Trade to ensure that the interests in this respect of the consuming public in Great Britain should not be endangered. The President of the Board of Trade (Mr. Buxton) said he was aware that the undertakings of two companies operating in the Argentine Republic were acquired ,some years ago by United States firms, and that the latter were taking an illcreasing interest in developing the meat industry of the Argentine. He did not think that the existing situation called for action oil the part of the Government, but. tlie whole position would continue to be carefully watched.
