e (Before Mr. W. G. Riddel!, S.M.) SATURDAY'S CASES. A young married man, named Arthur Frederick Charles Davios, was charged with stealing a diamond ring, valued at .613, and 18s. in money from the dwelling of Margaret Hume. The offence is alleged to have taken place on April 13 last. On the application of Chief-Defec-tive Broberg, accused was remanded until Wednesday next. Bail was allowed in ,£'so, and two sureties of .£25 each, or one of .£SO. William O'Brien pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing, on June 2, on overcoat valued at 165., the property of Fanny Whittakcr. lie was remanded for sentence until June 7, in order that certain inquiries may be made. John' M'Carthy admitted that, while drunk, he had wilfully damaged a pane of glass, valued at 255., the properly of i r ep Lpc. He was convicted and .discharged foi drunkenness, but, on the charge of wilful damage, he was fined "Ds., ami ordered lo make good the damage, 255.. and pay interpreter's fee ss. Default was fixed at seven days' imprisonment. Matthew Boyd, charged with drunkenness, was fined 10s., in default IS hours' imprisonment. John Watson, who had been found iu x state of helpless drunkenness, was remanded for a week for medical treatment. A first-offending inebriate was convicted and discharged.
