NOT A PESSIMIST.
BISHOP JULIUS ON CHURCH AND STATE. The Anglican Bishop of Christchurch (Dr. Julius), who has come to Wellington to take part in tho consecration of tho Rev. T. 11. Sprolt, as Bishop of Wellington, .preached at St. rotor's Church last evening to a large congregation, the building being crowded. In the course of an eloquent address, his Lordship condemned pessimism in regard to Christianity, and the work of the Church. Both the State and the Church, he said, were divine institutions. Some people said they took no interest in polities; and others said they took no interest in this world, they were so earnestly looking after tho world to come. Thank God, He took care of this world; and however faulty some of our institutions might be, Ho was working out His purpose in ithc world. "God has a pui'|x>so in tho world," ho edded, "God is training the nations, leading the people, and is working out things that the greatest politician on earth does not know." His Lordship alluded briefly to 'the Coronation of tho King, and to the approaching ceremony of the consecration of the Bishop-elect of Wellington.
