Tho secretary of the Exhibition Committee has been instructed to write to the Harbour Board, asking for permission to erect. a sign on the building at the entrance to :the, wharf, indicating the direction- which the Exhibition buildings lay. The secretary is also to write to the Town Clerk, asking him whether the City Council will carry a sign "Exhibition" on the trams, and'also whether additional cars can be put on the Jervois Quay route between 9 and 10 p.m. A deputation, consisting of the three Exhibition Commissioners. Mr. J. I\ Luke, M;P., and Mr. H. Fletcher, chairman of the Harbour Board, is to wait upon the Minister for Railways, to ask whether excursion trains can not be run to tho Exhibition. . The same deputation is to wait on the Minister for Customs, asking permission to bs allowed to run a large lamp and streamers from the Customhouse across the street. ■ . A meeting of the chairmen of the various Exhibition committeea is to be held every Monday and Thursday at 5 p.m. The attendance at the Exhibition yesterday numbered 2712. HOURS OF OPENING FIXED, It was definitely decided yesterday that tho Exhibition should be kept open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. continuously, instead of closing from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., as had been suggested. FOUR HUNDRED SCHOOL CHILDREN. The secretary of tho Carterton School Committee lias written lo the Commissioners, stating that arrangements are being made for dOO school children from Carterton to visit the Exhibition on Jiine 15. The Exhibition Committee lias decided that when excursions are run for school children in numbers, the children shall be admitted on payment of 3d. each. MOVING PICTURES. The moving picture show is to bo started 'in the concert chamber on Saturday morning. THE STADIUM. THE. TENNIS TOURNAMENT. Practically the whole of the preliminary arrangements in connection with tho tennis tournament have been completed and the handicaps were announced last evening by Messrs. Barry, Kecsing, and I). M. Kean. The handicaps will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the. championships will commence at 2 p.m. Tho .handicaps are: —

Stadium last evening, a fair number of enthusiasts watching the progress of the names,- which were keenly contested. John Brackenridge, Jas. Brackenridge, Gannaway, and Ingram (19) defeated Bailey, Noble, J. J. Roberts, and IJamsay (12). Gray, Manley, •Eoutley, and Blnnchard'(l4) defeated Williamson. Hamerton, M'C'oll, and Duguid (13), after an exciting game. Tho final .will be played-to-night, when ladies will be admitted to the Stadium freo of charge. SKATING BACE LAPSES. The skating race'set down for last night did not eventuate. Owing to a misunderstanding only four competitors were present at the appointed time. "JACK TAB" AT PLAY. . There should lie a full house at the 'Stadium to-morrow evening, when Hie joily jack tars of H.M.S. Pioneer will hold a sports meeting of a highly diverting and original character. The programme' will include a 53yds. sprint championship of the ship; 'tuß-of-war (football tram v. Pioneer Dramatic, and Minstrel Club), potato race, sack race, three-legged race, wheelbarrow race, a number of comic items in- costume,. and a skating race; ■ Srich a programme should draw a very large attendance. GYMNASTIC DISPLAY. A carnival is to be giveu in tho Stadium on Wednesday next by the Y.M.C.A. gymnasts. In addition to tho gymnastic display there will also be a 50yds. Open Handicap and a mile Open Handicap, run uuder the auspices of tho N.Z.A.A.A. and open to members of hockey, football, and lacrosse clubs.
