A BANK-TELLER'S MISTAKE.
AND A FOREIGNER'S HONESTY. An interesting story of a Dane's honesty in dealing with a Wellington provincial bank is reported by our travelling representative. The young- man in question, was returning to his native country, and drawing his money out from the Savings Bank of a country town, was given nn order for .£IOO on ono of the banks. Jlc cashed the order, receiving, as he thought, twenty five-pound notes, lie left that afternoon by the train for Wellington, preparatory to leaving by the steamer for Europe. When going to bed that night in a Wellington hotel, he looked over iiis money, and was somewhat astonished to find that tho teller had given him, not r -tloo, but .£2OO. Meanwhile the teller himself had discovered iiis mistake and was in some trepidation when ho learned that the stranger had left for Wellington and that his ultimate destination was Denmark. He offered a gratuity and expenses to a friend of the foreigner to go down to Wellington and search for tho man, and tho friend closed with the offer, but; did not succeed in locating the money. This last news did not increase tho bank official'* peace of mind and a sleepless night, supervened, lie had been informed, however, that tho young man was of good character, aud lie. derided next morning lo await the arrival of the next: train or the next mail before making a further move. At mid-day his eyes wore, gladdened by the sight of the stranger walking info the bank with the missing .£IOO. • A suitable recognition of the honest act was promptly made,
