ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
CAUGHT IN MACHINERY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, May 31. ■ A young man named Frederick Gallagher, employed at Wilson's Cement Works at Waitaitai, met his death there to-day. Ho was employed attending to machinery, and by some means at present unknown became entangled in tho gear. His cries attracted the attention of his fellow workmen who were engaged in outside duties, and on rushing into tho machine-room Ihey found that one of Gallagher's logs had been completely cut off, whilst .tho other one was terribly, crushed. Before medical assistance ar* rived, tho unfortunate man died, MOTORMAN SERIOUSLY HURT. Christchurch, May 31. On tho 7.40 a.m. trip from Sumner tlrii morning Motorman Musgrave, the driver of the car, met with a serious accident which necessitated his removal to tho hospital, where it was found that he was suffering from concussion of the brail and a fractured skull, BOY FOUND DROWNED. Auckland, May 31. Lewis Wood, ased eight, was founA drowned at Russell, his injuries suggesting that he fell from the rocks.
