A REMARKABLE CASE.
6 ARMY OFFICER'S ALLEGED FRAUD. By Telceraph-Pross Association-OoDyrieht London, May 30. Great interest is being taken at Edinburgh in the trial of Lieutenant Aylmer Cameron, a young officer of the lioyn.l Field Artillery, and Mrs. Cameron, who were arrested in February on a.chargo of attempting to obtain mouey from insurance societies by falso representations. About three weeks bbforo his Lieutenant Cameron, had informed the police that his wife had, while shopping, been robbed of a necklace valued nt jCGSOO. It was stated that while the lieutenant was in a shop a man came behind Sirs. Cameron, who was waiting outsido, and gripping her throat with ono hand unfastened the necklace with the other and ran off with it. Two servant girls swore that no ono was near Mrs. Cameron when sho said, "I have been robbed of a necklace." A detective gave evidence to tho effect that the theft of anything from beneath tho sealskin coat worn by Mrs. Cameron would have been impossible. Letters found in tho flat occupied by tho Camerons were read in court. They were signed "Billy Walker." The Solicitor-General remarked that these formed the foundation of tho accusation of false representations to tho insurance companies. The spelling of the word "insurance" with "en" instead of "in" was the same as Mrs. Cameron's spelling of the same word. The case was adjourned. A COMPLICATED CASE. (Eec. May.3l, 10.40 p.m.) London, May 31. In the Cameron caso the Crown suggested that tho insurance was effected upon an imitation pearl necklace obtained on approval from a Eegent Street jeweller. Amelia Blasen, a French maid, gavo evidenco that she posted letters from Cannes, in the South of France, at tho request of Ernestine Tones (Mrs. Cameron's maid). , The Crown suggests these messages were bogus ones from tho mythical "Billy" Walker, who is untraceable. Walker's letters contain a story to the effect that the pearls were tho price of Mrs. Walker's shame, and that Walker gave them to Mrs. Cameron at his daughter's request.
