Cable advice from London states that the Fcderal-Houlder-Shirc liner Durham arrived at London from the Bluff on Thursday last. The vessel cleared tho southern port on April 3. and has accomplished tho passage in 52 days. PAKEHA AT SYDNEY. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's steamer Pakcha arrived at Sydney .from Liverpool on Friday last. The vessel is expected to leave the New South Wales port some time this week for Auckland, whereshe i 6 due about Saturday next. TURAKINA DUE TO-DAT. . The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Turaluna is due to-day from London and Plymouth, via Cape Town. and Hobart. Tho steamer berths at the lung s Wharf No. 3 to land passengers, and dischargo 3340 tons of cargo. A LARGE SAILER FOR DUNEDIN. Tho French barque Marcchal dc Gontaut, which has arrived at Portland from Newcastle, with a cargo of coal, ha-s been fixed to load a cargo of Oregon at one ot the Pacific Coast ports for Dunedin, Now Zealand. Tho Mnrechol de Gontaut 1-3 ti steel vessel of 2240 tons, and 2025 net, and was built in 1902 at Nantes, France. She is owned by the Soc. Nouvelle de Armements. So far this is the biggest sailing vessel yet fixed to load lumber on the Pacific Coast for a New Zealand port. OCEAN PHENOMENON. Captain P. Holford, of the Union Company's Island mail steamer Tofua, has reported to tho Superintendent of Navigation at Sydney that on April 29, when in lat. 20deg. 52min. long. 175dcg. 34min. west, he piiseed, about a quarter of a mile off, a very suspicious-looking patch of coloured water, which was quite conspicuous from various angles. The outer edges were of a light green colour, the inner part of a yellowish brown. A fresh breeze was blowing, and no break upon it, possibly tho result of. some submarine disturbance. Chart affected, No. 2421, Friendly Islands general. Tho Mangapapa is to sail for Westport and Karamea to-day at 6 p.m. A notice to passengers by tho. R.M.S. Rotorua appears olsewhero in this issue.

Yesterday a telegram wae received by the. Marino Department from Captain Bolkns, of the Government steamer Hinemoa, Btating that the weather had proved too rough to effect a landing at Jackson's Head Beacon.

The Haupiri, which leaves Auckland tomorrow, will visit Limestone Island and the East Coast bays before coming on to Wellington.

On Thursday the Union Company's turret steamer. Koromiko leaves Westport with a load of coal for Auckland.

At 8.50 a.m. yesterday the Star of Canada arrived at Lyttclton from Wellington Farewell Spit reports that a, largo steamer passed there at 10.15 a.m. yesterday, bound east.

H.M.S. Pioneer arrived in port at 9.30 yesterday morning. She is from Collingwood.

Cable advice received yesterday states that the TJlimaroa, which left here last Thursday for Sydney, arrived there at noon yesterday.

The AoreTe is expected' here to-day from Patca, and will then bo laid up for annual inspection.

The lonic arrived at Auckland yesterday, and leaves again to-morrow for Napier, Gisborne. and Lyttolton. She is due to arrive at Lyttelton about Juno 9, and sails again on June 10 for Wellington. The vessel will probably leave Wellington lor London about June 15.

The Shaw, Savill aud Albion steamer Tokomnru is to leave Port Chalmer3 next Friday for the Bluff. She will return to Port Chalmers on June 7, and leave again next day for Timaru and Lyttdton. She will go to North I6land ports to complete loading, and will sail finally from Auckland for London about the middle of June.

When loading is completed at Port Esperance, the Norwegian barque Drainmensereu will sail for Lyttclton with ttCCOOft. of lluon hardwood.

Tho 6U>amer Inga, which arrived at Sydney on May 21, from Kaipara aud ilokianga, left there on May 24, with 106,000 ft. of timber for Newcastle, and upon discharge of same will lead 1250 tons of coal for Dutch New Guinea.
