Michael Scott, of Melbourne, won tho open amateur stroke competition at Troon from Mr. Boyrl by 155 to 150. VARDON'S PROPOSED VISIT. Mr. A. S. Bifs, chairman of the New Zealand Golf Council, has received & cablegram from Sydney asking if Now Zealand will guarantee .C2OO towards the cost of Vardon's proposed visit to Australia and New Zealand. The principal clubs have been communicated with and there seems to be no doubt that the amount required will be forthcoming. It is expected that the visit of this famous golfer will extend over three weeks, and that he will play exhibition games in the principal centres. ■CORONATION MEDAL. ■ Playing for the "Coronation Medal," the host score made oil" the Hutt liiike was that by Mrs. Murphy, 88-18-70.
