They state that the vessel was driven off her course by a. series of gales. Tho captain ran ashore on n sandy bcaoh. A seaman named Ward, the only Englishman aboard, at great risk carried a life-line ashore,, by which the balanco of the crew landed safely. Tho men. suffered considerable hardships on their overland journey. The Mandalay has a hole in her hull, her mainmast has gone, and she is embedded in sand, with 6eas breaking over her. It is unlikely that tho vessel can be refloated.
