SEVEN MILLIONS IN LONDON. By Telesraph—Press Association-Copyricht London, May 25. Tho official census returns givo the population of England and Wales at 36,075,000, an increase, of 10.91 por centum since the last census in 1901. Tho figures for tho metropolis arc:— Administrative county of London, 4,536,267, a decrease of 13,306; Greater London, 7,252,963, an increase of 671,561. BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES- $ HALF-YEAHLY MEETING. By Telcsraph-Preas Association—Copyright. (Rec. May 26, 10.5 p.m.) Sydney, May 26. At the half-yearly meeting of tho Bank of New South Wales, it was announced that the profits amounted to £204,373, to which had to be added £57,342 from last year. A dividend was declared at the rate of 10 per centum. A sum of £53,265 was put to reserve, and £62,113 carried forward. New capital paid up amounted to £186,940, making tho total capital £2,913,820. . The chairman stated that the deposits, especially tho fixed deposits, were still on tho increase owing to the general prosperity and accumulation of money awaiting investment. Bills discounted, loans, and advances showed ah. increase of £2,400,000, well spread thronghont .Australia and Now Zealand.
