ANOTHER EXHIBITION.
.WHAT CHRISTCHURCH MAY DO. (By Tdc{?raph.-SDCcial Correspondent.) Christchurch, May 26. Tho president of the Canterbury Industrial Association (Mr. P. Hercus), who has returned from a visit to the Wellington Industrial Exhibition, was asked by a "Press" representative whether there was any likelihood of another industrial exhibition being held in Christchurch in the near future. "My own opinion," said Mr. Hercus, ''is that either next year or the year ■following we should certainly endeavour ,to orgamse an industrial exhibition similar to the last one held in Christchurch when tho Canterbury Hall was opened, : and the.matter is now receiving the attention of tho Canterbury Industrial Association." Mr. Hercus added that such an exhibition could not be held this year very well, .for it would clash with tho Wellington Exhibition, while next year it might elash with the exhibition proposed to be held in Auckland, In the meantime, however, the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council were endeavouring to organise an industrial exhibition on a small scale in October, and the Industrial Association was giving its support to the scheme.. The proposal was to hold an exhibition of working exhibits and manufactured goods in one of the halls of the city, something similar to the exhibition held in Tuam Street Hall, now tho Opera House, some years ago. The proposal to holda Dominion purchasing week, which originated with tho unions, would also receive the support, of tho Industrial Association, and would for the time being really take the place of tho local industries weftk. Tho latter week should have been held about the present time, but was pnstpmipd on account of" the AVelJington Exhibition, nnd tho proposal now was to hold it later in tho year.
