CORONATION REVIEW.
MILITARY POMP & CIRCUMSTANCE. THE OFFICIAL PROGRAMME. From the spectacular point of view, Hie most interest in;; event of the Coronation celebrations in Wellington will Ix? tho graml military review, which is to take place at Newtown l'ark on Juno 2u', when it is expected that our 3000 of all ranks will parade lor ceremonial and review by hir. iixwllency the Governor (Lord Islington). Among those taking part in the review will be a landing party from H.M.S. Cambrian and 11.M.5. Pioneer, with field ytins, the Amoknra Cadets, and six battalions of infantry as follow: —
No. 1 Battalion, consisting of the Wellington Garrison .Artillery Division, the Wellington Engineer Corps, and the Officers' Training Corps, under Lieut.-Col. G. 1". C. Campbell. Y.D.; Xo. 2 Battalion, consisting of the Fifth Wellington Riiies, under I.ieut.-Coloucl AV. G. Duthie; No. 3 Battalion, consisting of the Wellington College, St. Putrid;'? Boys' Institute, St. Anne's, and St. Vincent Senior Cadet Corps, under Major D. M. Matheson; Xo. 4 Battalion, Junior Cadets, under Major Hempleman; No. 5 Battalion, Junior Cadets, under Major M'Kenzie; No. 6 Battalion, Junior Cadets, under Major Bethune; Cyclo Corps, Field Ambulance, Garrison, Battalion, and Pipe Band;.
The Brigade will be under tho command of Colonel E. W. C. Chaytor, Offi-' cer Commanding the Wellington Military District, whoso personal statT will include the brigade major, a staff officer, and a bugler. There will also be present the members of the General Headquarters Staff, numbering 10, and about 20 unattached officers. The adult units (including the Senior Cadets) of Colonel Chaytor's brigade ave to assemble at a fixed point in tlio city (yet ta be determined), and march to Newtown Park, via tlio main thoroughfares. On arrival, these units with the cadet section will be drawn up in line of battalion facing the west side of the Park, the whole to be in position by 11.30 a.m. The Royal Escort is to be furnished bv "A" Squadron, tith Wellington Mounted Rifles,'and parade at Government House nt' 11.30. a.m., the remainder of the squadron to maintain the route for his Excellency outside the Park gates. On the" hill overlooking the Park D Battery, under Maior Pethenck, will be posted for the firing of tho special salute of 101 guns at n'eon._ The battery will use four quick-firing Xordcnfelclt's for the salute, which will by fired as ljis Excellencv is receiving the liojal Salute bj the brigade. A single gun will be fired when liis Excellencv leaves Government House. The Koyal New Zealand Artillery will bo detailed for Park duty, to control the approaches and gates to tho Park, and the area reserved for tho
troops. . The Eoval Association of His Majesty s Veterans "will furnish tho guard of honour to his Excellency the Governor, erans are requested to parade itli thcil medals. Boy Scout detachments, senior and junior, will bo paraded with tho C'adet battalions. Shortly, the order of ceremonial will be as follows:—At 11.45 a.m. the officers and colours will "take posts" in review order, and the troops will stand at attention, with'arms sloped. At noon the Governor will arrive at tho park, anil will bo received l:v the Acting-Premier (the Hon. J. Carroll), Ministers, the Commandant of the -New Zealand Forces (Major-General Godley, C.8.), and his Worship tho Mayer (Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.), and take up his position at tho saluting base—"Eoyal Salute," by the Battery and tho National Anthem by the bands. Then, to the accompaniment of the bands, the ceremonial inspection of the brigade will take place, followed by an inspection of tho Veterans. Then Trill come tho march past in column, and finally the advance in review order, at 1 p.m. Tho function will conclude with tho singing of "Old Hundredth," tho Lord's Prayer, and short addresses by his Excellency, tho Acting-Premier,' and the Mayor, after which the troops will again give the "Eoyal Salute," and remain itit attention while his Excellency takes ins departure. The troops will, then march to tho Garrison Hall for dismissal.
CORONATION DAY. « THE GOVERNMENT AND THE CITY. The local celebration of tho Coronation was discussed on Saturday evening by the Acting-l'rime Minister (the Hon. Jas. Carroll) and tho Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford). It is understood that a representative function will bo arranged. The Mayor has decided to ask representatives of football ..cluus and other athletic bodies to join the procession in their club uniforms. .Members of- Friendly Societies, of the Salvation Army, of the Trades and Labour Council, of industrial unions and of the various other social institutions in the city will also be asked to take part in tho procession.
Tho Mayor is inviting representatives of the clubs and other bodies mentioned to meet in his room at tho Town Hall on Thursday evening next, to discuss arrangements, and appoint a marshal for the procession. The boroughs of Petono and Hutt will bo asked to co-operate with the city. So far as actual arrangements have progressed, tlio order will be that the military, the officers and men of H.M.S. Cambrian and any other warship in the harbour, the Amokura boys, and cadets will assemble in front of Government Buildings. They will join the rest of th? procession at tho Basin Reserve, where in Iho meantime tho members of friendly societies and other bodies, including those connected with various feports, will linvo been massed. Then the whole procession will move to Newtown Park, and deploy on tho sward there. Addresses wiil bo given by his Excellency the Governor, the Acting-Prime Minister, and others. There will be a free picture show in tho Town Hall in the afternoon for' cliildren and a free concert in the evening.
