THE MACDONALD CASE.
■ $ ■ 11 ' PRESS AND OTHER OPINIONS. SOME STRONG COMMENTS. Wo have received a largo amount of correspondence on tho rccent caso of Eose ,v. Macdonald. Somo of tho writers have couched their opinions in languago too strong* to permit of publication, and these lotters.-in consequence have been rejected. IWO publish below a number of letters, and also such press comments on tho caso as litivo como to hand through our exchanges ' A PLEASING POSSIBILITY. [To tho Editor.! Sir,—The result of tho Eose v. Macdonald caso has given mo much pleasure, for I am a poor clerk, and have a delicate wife and' family to keep, and am myself suffering from heart trouble. I have the handling of largo sums of other people's money, and havo often been tempted to borrow somo of it for my own use, or to get somo little corilforts for my delicate wife, tut feared bringing disgraco on her and tho children, and perhaps finding myself landed in goal.' But now I see I havo only to get a few doctors' certificates re tho state of my health, which I am sure I could easily do, even though a, poor clerk, and then I shall be safe, and, oven if convicted, will only have to stay in my own. home with a constable within call, for I know our Supremo Court Judges would deal out tho same justice to a poor man as to a rich or,well-known man.—l am, etc., BELIEVED.
