The deceased hnd an adventurous career, and saw much Active service when stationed with the troops iu India. O'Donnoll was born in Tipperai.'y, Ireland, and at tho early ago of 18 ho onlistcd iu tho Royal Irish i'lisiliere, joining tlio depot at Chatham in January, ISSO. Ho was nt once Bent; out to India, and joined his rogiinont, tho 87tli, this, with others, being engaged in tho Punjab district, keeping tho Sepoys in check. The deceased went through tho battles of Central India, and saw a number of conflicts while keeping tho would-bo mutineers from seisins'the arms in that part of tho country. For these services ho was grant ed the ludian Mutiny nludal. In the yea> lßfit he took hi* (ltecnq-teo whilst nt HonfiKong, after serving well for. eleven years. Five years later ho arrival in Now Zealand, nnd settled in OUigo. He never married, and when ho reached the nso of 75 he applied, and was admitted to the Veterans' Home. A sitting of tho Native Land Court at Wellington has been fixed for June 1.
