PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.

IG. •With a view of enlarging their grounds, the Terrace End Bowline Club has purchased another section of laud adjoining their green and tennis courts. It is proposed to-■enlarge the courts, which, together with the bowling green, have .been top-dressed. Major-Generai Godley was in Palmerston yesterday. He inspected the new suite of offices which have been secured in Kangitikei Street for the District Headquarters Staff, and expressed his approval of them. .Mr. Jas. Miller, of Palmerston, is one of the "old Gabriel's Gully party," and proposes to go south to take ?art in the celebrations which are to be "held there shortly.
The Palmerston Orchestral Society has secured the services of Hiss M'Euroe, of Wellington, as vocalist at their next concert in June. • ,
Only C3O persons havo registered in the Palmerston district for military service. It is estimated there must bo at least 1000 more who are between the ages of. 11 and 21.
