ST. ALBANS CHURCH.
The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Albans Church was held in the Eastbourne Hall on ,Monday, tho vicar (tho Rev. J. Jones) presiding. Tho secretary read the annual report, which was adopted. It was resolved, on Mr. W. F. Shortt's motion: "That the balnnec-shcct and statements be taken as read, and accepted." Mr. Williams moved, and Mr. Carle seconded: "That a hearty vote of, thanks bo passed to tho committee." This was carried. The following were elected to the committee for the ensuiii" veai— Messrs. J. D. Avery, R. L. Button; C. A. Baker, F. J. Chittey. W. 11. LMdsbury, J). A. Jenkins, G. R. Kells, 11. Martin,. C. Russell, S. F., Wright. Messrs. F Wills and 11. T. Marsdon were elected e-iditors. Mr. Jenkins moved, and Mr. Russell seconded: "That this meeting of parishioners desires to place on record its grateful thanks to their honorary organist, Mr. W. F. Shortt, for his long "and continuous services, and more espeeiallv for his goodness in lending his own instrument for the services of the church." This was carried. On the motion of Mr. Russell a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Avery for his services as secretary. On tho motion of Mr. Rii.-sell, seconded by Mr. Williams, a hearty vole of thanks was passed to Mr. Button "for his valuable services to the district as layreader and superintendent of the Sunday School." Some question was raised as to Iho allocation of offertories made through Ihe envelope system, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. W. F. Shortt, seconded by Mr. Russell, "That the matter of envelope contributions be left in tho hands of the committee." Some discussion look plaeo as to Ihe suggested creation of a separate parish for Eastbourne. Mr. Button moved: "That slops be taken to constitute Eastbourne a parochial district with a resident clergyman." This was seconded and supported at length by Mr. Avery. .Messrs. Didsbury, Russe.lL and Williams also spoke in support. The motion was then put and carried. Tho vicar, who was in accord with the resolution, moved: "That (he committee be directed to as soon as possible communicate the resolution lo the churchwardens and vestry of the parish (SI. .lame*'s, Lower tlutt), with suggestions as to boundaries."
