The weekly meeting of tho Wellington Eugby Referees' Association was .held at the Y.M.C.A.-Booms last evening, when Mr. H. E. Card presided over a good attendance.
A letter was received from tho Marlborough Association returning thanks for tho courtesy shown to the Marlborough delegates during tho recout conference of the New Zealand Association.
The secretary of the Wellington Bugby Union (Mr. W: G. Talbot) drew the attention of tho association to tlio fact that the union doctors for tho season are Drs. Pigeon and M'Evedy, of Willis Street,, and Dr. Minims, at Hutt. Ho further stated that referees could ' assist the administration of tbo Accident Fund by iraaking■if clear to players that no olairas for attendance, by other. than these doctors will be recognised. Cricket Ground and will be tho first League match to take place oh that ground. PAYMENT OF PROFESSIONALS.' Melbourne, May 15. Tho Football League has eliminated tho rule prohibiting players from receiving remuneration. The system of payment of professionals is now,openly conducted. ASSOCIATION. THE DOMINION COUNCIL. A meeting, of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association wag held last evening. Mr. J. M. Oilier presiding. The suspension of two members of the Ramblers' Club, imposed by tho W.F.A., was confirmed.' Wellington representatives were granted permission to play Manawatu on or about Juno 21.. . The. Canterbury Association wrote stating .that-they could not guarantee the sum asked for in regard to the proposed visit of a New South Wales team, but would.. consider offering a guarantee against a loss on any match played at Christchurch. The secretary of the Auckland Association also stated thai; his Association could not guarantee a sum of .£175 towards the visit of' a New South Wales team.
It was decided that the whole question of the New South Wales tour bo left over until the annual meeting of the Now Zealand Football Association nest Monday.
Affiliation was granted to the Marlborough Boys' Association and tho secretary notified that Messrs. Mathc-on and Yoomans had been appointed delegates. Jlawko's Bay was also affiliated ,'to the parent body. A challenge was received from the Manawatu Association for a match for the Brown Shield. The present holders are Canterbury.—Challenge accepted. A letter, received from the secretary of the Victorian Football Association, intimated that his association was willin'" to support the appointment of Mr. A. ° B. Gibbes as representative of Australasia on th'o'Football Association, Ltd., in London Tho Otago Association wrote stating that they had written the headmasters of the Oamaru schools regarding boys playing "soccer." Tho letter also stated that 20 entries had been received from boys' teams this season, this being e.n increase of four over tho number for the previous year. —Received. It was decided that tho secretary (Mr. B. L. Salmon) bo instructed to write to tho Canterbury Association asking what steps were being taken to foster the game in Timaru.
The secretary of the Jlanawatu Association advised that Messrs. Pettitt and Dudley, who had offered a cup for competition amongst North Island teams, were agreeable that it bo competed for by teams From both islands. It v.-as decided to discuss the matter at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Association.
