JOTTINGS FROM WANGANUI.

WOEKERS , HOJIES-ANOTHEE MOVE. A DAIRY COMPANY'S VENTURE. (By Telcjraph.-Spccia! Correspondent.) m . . ; , Wanganui, May 13. iho first four days of tho Y.M.C A's ten days' campaign, to raiso ,£6OOO have resulted in i;2OC9 being collected. J lie V angamii Dairy Company intends shortly making .a start with the erection of a factory at Arainolio for the extraction of the casein from skimmed milk ■Iho company has bought the New Zenland rights of the process from Messrs. Lehmaun and Voss, of Hamburg. As a result of tho visit of Mr. Lomas duet Inspector of the Labour Department, who, in company with Mr. llogan, J.1.P., made a thorough inspection of suitable suburban localities, the chief inspector is fully convinced that the provisions of the Workers' Homes Act should operate here. To overcome tho difficulty sometimes caused by the Government purchasing land for workers' homes in localities unsuitable for all the individual applicants, Mr. 1-logan suggested a group system, which will probably bo adopieff and under which it will be possible for tijree or more applicants to apply for homes in the locality which they prefer, and, provided the sections selected aro within, say, half a mile radius, and the Government does not possess other land in the locality for workers' homes, the selected sections (after being valued by tho Valuation Department) will be purchased.
