Cadets: The transfer of tho headquarters of the 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles, from Wanganui to Stratford, has bwii approved. •His Majesty the King has approved of the King's Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, as to the firing of salutes on British anniversaries being amended so as to run as follows :— "(a) The anniversaries of tho birth, accession, and coronation of tho reigning Sovereign. "(c) The birthday of the Queen Mother; on which days n Royal Salute shall bo fired at noon from all his Majesty's ships in port, and from all the forts and batteries with which triumph salutes arc usually fired.' . Chaytoi, commanding the Wellington Military District, state. that there will be no examination of officers or first appointment as second lieutenants. The first examination that an officer will-bo required to pass will be that for promotion from second lieutenant to lieutenant. It is desirable that the ago of second lieutenants on appointment to the Territorial Force should not exceed twenty-five, and this rule should as nearly as possible be strictly adhered to. Exceptional cases may. however, bo considered, but such will require special recommendation before receiving' consideration: .With' reference , to the half-yearly examinations far qualification, the undermentioned officers -will • constitute the Board'of Examination at each centre on May 1C:- .
