Only ONE Grievance,
Mr. Solomon submitted that, before the Court could interfere with tho verdict, it must bo satisfied that tho .plaintiff's'interpretation-was the only 'interpretation that was reasonable. Onco the verdiifc was found for tho defendant, the Court could not interfere with, it except on' such grounds. /Mr.'Bell; Wo don't dispute that. Mr. Solomon: I'm glad of that. ; Mr. Boll: If wo were not. charged "with. circulating that pamphlet, wo shoujd iliavo.no right to be hero at all. We havo no other grievance. Mr. Justice; Chapman will bear mo out that we. have, said so all along. If tho "Times" had simply called Mr. Massey a" liar, he would have laughed. In .further argument, Mr. Solomon submitted that it was open to tho Court to hold that the cartoon was a reiteration of the article .of-i two ti days before (in which the paper had denounced tho "Black" pamphlet and accepted the Opposition's denial of any connection' with it), with the addition of what had been said in tho siweeh delivered in tho interval. by Dr. Findliiy. -■-■■■
