Favoured by excellent •• weather, J)ie street collection in aid of the fund lor providing a women's ward at. the hospital was highly successful to-day. A strong band of collectors was busy in the mam thoroughfares from S a.m. (ill 1 p.m., and nt lIUO a procession of motor-cars, hearted by Hugh J. Ward's Company, and com(amine a largo number of collectors, ■mostly nurses, traversed the principal streets, in which large, crowds had eon-Ki-cnlod. The collectors met with a jWdy response, and the fund was lienetited to the extent of .MBS as tho result. The matinee, given by Mr. Wards Lornpa nv in the afternoon was very largely attended and yielded Ihe handsome total of .m>, makiii!? i'tOO for the day from these two sources. With other subscriptions, cfc2s(iO is well in sight.
