TERRIBLE FIRES.
HALF OF KIRIN BURNT. I Br Telceraph—l'ress AEsociatwn-Conyrijrh l , Peking, May 9. Half of the city of Kiriu, in Manchuria, which consists principally of wooden buildings, has been burned. The destruction is said to be immense. , Many persons have perished in the flames. JAPANESE TOWN ALIGHT. Tokio, May 9. The town of Yamagata, a place with a population of about 30,000, is burning. Thousands of houses, including banks, schools, and the law courts, have already been destroyed. The number of houses burned is estimated at 2000. Many persons have perished. NEW SOUTH WALES 'FATALITY*. Sydney, May 10. A fatal fire occurred at Mullengudgery railway station. 'Breeze, the caretaker, his wife, and three children were within the building when the fire was discovered. The wife removed Breeze, who is an invalid, and then the children. All were badly burnt, and a boy, aged seven years, died, while a second is in a precarious ! condition. ■ y-
