(From Our Special Correspondents.! — » SHANNON. Mr. Richard Hazlcton, M.P., one of tho delegates of the Irish Nationalist party, will address a meeting in the Druids' Hall on Saturday next. Levin and Poxton are likely to co-operate with Shannon so as to ensure success for tho meeting. It is stated as a probability that Mr. W. P. Massey, the Leader of the Opposition, will shortly deliver an address at Shannon. Mr. Byron Brown will act as judge at tho first coiupclitive debate of the Literary and Debating Society on Tuesday, May 16. when the subject will be, "That, Agitators Have Been a Blessing (o Mankind."
WOODVILLE. A sad fatality happened-on Sunday, by which Mr. A. Sowerbjyof this Un, lost his life. Deceased and party wero out shooting, and, by some mischance, Mr. Sowcrby received tho charge of a shotgun in tho back, death being instantaneous. An inquest was held yesterday at Dannevirke. The District High School is to be renovated. Mr. J. Fraser has secured the contract. The trustees of tho local Methodist Church are now able to report their church free of debt, the final instalment on tho loan having been paid last week.
