The 1?orougli ovor-cer then refused to answer tlie rjucstions, and it wp.s thereupon resolved that his services bo dispensed with forthwith, and that he be paid his salary up to January IG, 1912, in lieu of notice.
The. country around Hastings is looking very well just now. The rains which camo a fortnight ago were accompanied by a mild atmosnhere, with the result that new growth "iras quickly apparent, and tho brown of tho hills w.ns. almost in a night, turned to green. Now, however, the frost? are commencing, and there will be little growth till tho spring.
