_i_ • A HARRIERS' DAY OUT. Saturday's run was without a doubt a record one.for numbers and enthusiasm as far as the local harrier clubs arc con- i cerned. The two clubs (Wellington and 1 Brooklyn) turned out over 50 runners, 1 W. Press (Wellington club captain) be- 1 ing in charge, with P. Wilton (Brooklyn ! captain)-as pacemaker. The hares for ' tho day were 11. Lamb (Wellington), and W. Wilton (Brooklyn). The trail started from Cliff House and led over the ridges and down on to the bench at Lyall Bay, which was kept to for a distance, and thence up tho tramline and back via the Queen's Drive road. A splendid run in of about a mile was held. Tho first ( six homo wero:—F. J. Bryne (Brooklyn), ] 1; C. Row-berry (Wellington), 2; F. Wit- ' ton (Wellington), 3; C. Murray (Brooklyn), i; F. Bowberry (Wellington), 5; F. Rolls (Wellington), G. The older club thus holds tho honours with four out of the first six home. Afternoon tea was provided. The Brooklyn Club have several promising young runners who should bo heard of later, and a run such as Sat- : urday's will no doubt infu?e enthusiasm i into the game.
