THE LATE MR. RIDDIFORD.

FUNERAL YESTERDAY. Tho funeral of tlio late Mr. E. J. Riddiford took place yesterday. The cortege, a very long one. proceeded to St. James's Church, Hutt, where the Rev. J. Jones conducted the service. The interment subsequently took place at St. James's Churchvard.

Tlio various local bodies in the Hutt ■Vnlloy were represented. Tlio Lower Mutt Borough Council was represented iiy the Mayor, Jlr. 15. P. U unnv (brother-in-law of the deceased), the town clerk, and a number of tlio councillors. The Hutt River Hoard, of which Mr. Riddiford was once a member, was represented by Mr. W. C. Cuff. The chief mourners ivere tho sons ni' tho deceased, Messrs. Eric Riddiford, D. Riddiford, and Vivian Riddiford, and .also his brother and nephew. Thoro was'also a larp;e attendance of Natives, including Niniwa Hero Maia (a o.hicflainoss of the Wninrapa). A number of the late Mr. Riddiford's employees were, also present. Among others present wore Drs. Purely and Hislop, Professor Yoli Zedlitz, Father Lnno, and Messrs. W. G. Foster, (i. Poarce, R C. Kirk (chairman of Hospital Hoard}. (J. ]). Climie. G.
