Sir John Forrest, ex-Federal Treasurer, in an interview here, said.ho was inclined to believe that the preference question had reached a stage when it might bo dealt with by tho dominions in conference' among themselves rather than in a conference in which Britain was represented. If, he argued, the dominions first agreed' as to what they were prepared to offer, there would not bo much banging, bolting, or barring of doors.
. SIR WILFRID LAURIER. London, May 4. The newspapers express satisfaction that Sir Wilfrid Laurier is coming to tho Conference. The "Pall Mall Gazette" (Tariff Reform) says that though' his Imperial ardour has cooled and he has set an unwelcome example, ho commands respect and attention. Ottawa, May 5. It is not yet known whether tho House of Commons will adjourn or continue sitting when Sir "Wilfrid Laurier goes to London. CANADIAN HOUSE TO ADJOURN. (Rec. May 6, 1.3 a.m.) Ottawa, May S.
