POLICE CASES. \t the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Tohn Parker, a foaman, pleaded not Kiiiliv to a chaw of having assaulted Vrancis Bowe. Evidence Riven by the htter was to the efleet that accused hail asked (in a gruff voice) to bo directed to Panama-Street, anil, when witness did not answer, accused had struck him on the side of the head. Accused slat-:<l that! when ]is asked to he directed to Panama' Street, complainant had giv?n him a "poke with a stick," and he (accused) considered that that was urovoeation. His Worship, however, hold that a conviction must he recorded, mid a fine of 20s. was iin posed, the option being 18 hours' imprii-Kiiiiioni-. William Wh<nix)p admitted that, while drunk in I.itr.o Turanalii Street on Monday night, he had made use of improper language. As ho had not boon previously convicted for such offence' ho was tineil only .£3, the alternative being u days' imprisonment. On the charge o{ drunkenness, he was convicted and discharged. Donald Campbell, charged with drunkenness, was fined 10s., with the alternative of '18 hours' imprisonment. Jean Munro, alias lionianson, pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, and to a further charge of procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. .On the charge of drunkenness, she was.convicted and discharged, but. for broach of the order, slip was fined 405., wil:h the alternative of 11 days' im- . cri^nmciit
