ONE DAY AHEAD OF TIME-TABLE. Now on her second voyage from London to New Zealaud, the New Zealand Shipping Company's R.M.S. Rotorua- dropped anchor in the stream at Wellington at 10.15 a.m. yesterday, and berthed at tno long's Wharf at 11.45 a.m. The vessel left the ilome port o i ••larch 1?. and experienced strong S.E. winds to Cape Fincaterre, thence westerly wind*, and heavy to TencrifFe, which port was made on March 23. From the latter pert until she readied the Line, variable winds were met with, and then S-i;. trades'with a considerable head feucll to Cape Tovn. Alter coaling and embarking passengers, a start was made on the run acro--o the Southern Ocean to Hobarl. For the most part tho vessel encountered strong winds, with occasional pales, high seiis and considerable swells. When she was a week out from Hobart she ran into a high NAY. wind, which was accompanied by a considerable swell. Tho?o condition.! prevailed until arrival at Hobart on April 25-two days ahead oi schedule time. Owing to conditions of labour and heavy rain interfering with the work of discharge, the Rotorua was cornrolled to htay at the Tasmanian port tor a- 1 much longer period than was intended. However, she managed to clear at 6 a.m. on Thursday last, and experienced S.S.E. winds oil the run across the Tasman Sea. On April 17 the steamer did 350 miles at an average speed of 14.9 knots an hour, and on April 19, 341 miles wero traversed. The average speed for the whole voyage was 13.3 knots, as against 12.6 knots on her maiden trip to New Zealand. Cargo, consisting of 5279 tons of general merchandise, was aboard the vessel when she left' London, of which 3193 tons arc for Wellington and 1501 torn* for Lyttclton. At Hobart 585 lons wero discharged. Captain J. A. Sutcliflc is still in charge of the Rotorua. and he has with him the following officers Messrs. A. E, Dunn, chief; F. Tattinson, second; J.
