The las , , slrclch was heavy going in tho sand. l'riik< of place was gained by C. Howberry, with I'. Rowborry aud V. Wilton following in a doad-hcal, and W. Press clo'o up. The first, race of the season will bo held at tho Unit Park on May lit, for novices only. BROOKLYN CLUB. On Saturday afternoon eighteen members i>l tended the weekly run, the course being from tho Dominion Tea-room, at Karon. C. Murray and C. Coad were the hares for the day, and led a course from the tea-room down into Creswick, along through Wilton's Bush, then up over the hills and down into I'arkvalc. The Makara Stream was followed fur about two miles, then the trail led up tho hill overlooking the football ground and back to the starting-point. A handicap run-in was held over tho last IiOO yards, which resulted in a win for G. Bristow, with A. Oliver and A. L. Oliver finishing second and third respectively. These members should bo well.up when tho novice handicap is run on May 13. Members are reminded that a combined run will bo held with tho Wellington Harriers next Saturday, from Island Bay. A full muster is expected.
