Tho battleship Princess Royal, to be launched on the 29th instant, is to be armed with 13.5 in. guns, which will bo nine tons heavier and seven inches longer than the Invincible's twelve-inch guns, and tho muzzlo energy will be increased to sixty-thousand foot-tons. Theso increases, it is considered; will compensate for any improvements in foreign armour. The Princess Royal is one of the eight battleships of the 1909-10 programme, and will bo fitted with 70,000 horse-power turbine engines, capable of driving her at twenty-seven and a half knots, and probably thirty knots when necessity arises. Her displacement will be 2G,0A0 tons. Messrs. Vickers, Sons, and Maxim have contracted for the wholo of the work, the cost being ,£2,000,000.
