COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL.
THE WELLINGTON FIXTURE, A meeting of the New Zealand Competitions' Society was held last evening (Dr. Izard presiding) to meet Mr. Scott Colville, secretary of the Auckland Competitions Society. Mr. Scott Colville was brought down by the "Wellington body especially in order to enable Mr. James Dykes, local secretary, to obtain full insight into the running of tho society. Full information was given the meeting by Mr. Scott Colville. It was decided. to engage the Town Hall and the Concert Room for a ten days' festival, commencing on October 25. Conferences are to be arranged with the headmasters of the different schools and scoutmasters, and the executives of the literary societies, with the object of securing their co-operation. Tenders are to be invited shortly for medals and designs for certificates. It is intended that only Dominion-made goods will be accepted. It was resolved to ask Mr. C. N. Baoyertz to be the judge of elocution and vocal competitions; Mr. Harold Gregson to judge instrumental music; and Mr. C. Wilson (Parliamentary Librarian) to ho one of the judges of the literary department. Mrs. Montague's offer to be accompanist at tho festival was accepted. It was left to the secretary, Dr. Izard and Mr. J.-M. Clark to make ments, and call a public meeting as early as possible. Altogether a most enthusiastic meeting washekl, and everything points to the festival proving a great success.
