GENERAL ORDERS. General Orders by the Commandant of the New Zealand Forces (Major-General A. J. Godley, C.13.), include the following announcements:— The full list of the officers of the New) Zealand Stall' Corps and K.N.Z.A., who have proceeded to England, for the purpose ol undergoing a year's course of militarv training witn the Imperial Forces "is as follows:—Lieutenant-Colonel Jfc\ W. Abbott. D.5.0., N.Z.S.C.; Captain. 11. J. Seduon, N.Z.S.C.; Lieutenant ivon. Talluim Standish, R.N.Z.A., Lieutenant William M'Grcgor Turnbuil, N.Z.S.C., Lieutenant Andrew Ilaitly Bum, N.Z.5.C.,; Lieutenant Harold Lloyd Garland, xN.Z.S.C. ... Major J. G. Hughes, D.R.0., Assistant Adjutant-General and Assistant Quarter-master-General, Nelson District, is to bo attached to the General Staif at Headquarters, the appointment to bs for a; period of four years. Tho undermentioned officers have passed the examination for promotion:— For major—Captains Percy Hawkins Johnson and Percy John Overton (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry). For captain—Lieutenants Donald Roderick I'rauk Campbell (Waikato Mounted ltifles), John Robert Cade, and Lancelot Craig (Wellington West Coast Rifles). Staff Sergeant-Majors E. C. Dovey and H. A. Wilson have been promoted to warrant rank, as from February 19 last. Forage allowance at the rate of .£3O per annum, as from April 1, 1911, may. bo drawn by the following officers and' non-comniissioned officers, provided a horse, is actually kept by them:—Officers of tho Imperial Forces doing duty m New Zealand; officers of the Now Zealand Staff Corps; warrant officers nnd non-commissioned officers of tho Permanent Staff; area sergeant-majors; and sergeant-majors of regiments and battalions. ... ~ , This allowance, however,, will not bo made to area sergeant-majors and ser- 1 geaiit-major instructors of infantry talions whoso headquarters are w'thm the cities of Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin, where horses can bo hired as required. The Instructional and Military Lxamination Board and the local Board of Military Examination in each district' have now been abolished. The General Officer Commanding desires to express his great appreciation of tho work done by tho officers of these boards in the past. Examinations will now be supervised by special boards of officers, appointed aa*. required from timo to time. Tho fern-leaf badge with the letters "N.Z." embossed on it lias been adopted as the badge of the New Zealand Staff Corps and New Zealand Permanent Stait. It should not, therefore, be worn by any other member of tho Forces. , , Warrant officers and non-commissioned officers holding the temporary rank cf sergeant-major will bo issued with nrstclass railway warrants. All other ranks will be provided with sccond-class railwav warrants only. In future all warrant officers, noncommissioned officers and men of tha Permanent Staff and R.N.Z.A. will wear uniform when travelling on duty.
