KING'S FESTIVAL.
Last evening the Marathon race in connection with the Catholic Bazaar was run off (to tho Patent Slip and return), when a large crowd watched the start, and also awaited the return of the competitors. C. Robertson, a young Lower Hutt runner, was the first to put in an appearance, and was declared the win.ner. Then came \Y. Bennett, of the Wellington Harriers, C. Berne, of Petone, third, and others followed in quick succession. L. Baxter, the scratch man, put up a good raco, having made tho third fastest time. Tho fastest timo was put up by W. Bennett, who did the distance in 40min. 30sec, while Fitzgerald ran into second fastest timo in 41min. 43sec. Baxter's time was 42min. 29sec. Tho course was in only fair condition, them being largo pools of water a,ncl plenty of mud to make matters worse, and, considering the state of affairs, the time recorded was very good. The distance- wa3 a littlo over seven miles. Eighteen competitors started out of 22 entrants, and all the runners finished. , ■
