THE REFERENDUM.

FINAL RALLIES. ' VOTING TAKES PLACE TO-DAY. By Telearaph— Press Association-Copyrlitht (Rec. April 25, 11.15 p.m.) Sytlnoy, April 25. • The final rallies in connection with the referendum took place to-night. The campaign has been strenuous and fervid, and it is difficult to forecast the result, but the general feeling is that whichever way it goos the majority will not be large. Probably a considerably bigger proportion than at election times, particularly women,' will abstain from polling, including a section of the Labour party, who, while opposed to lessening tho powers possessed by the States, are not prepared to throw their weight in the opposite scale. 'As usual, the Labour party is excellently organised and confident. The Liberals have worked extremely hard, and beliovo that with a majority of the newspapers on their side they will bo able to carry the day ajainst the referendum.
