DiinetJin, April 25. i The .draughts tournament was continued to-day, when F. Hilliker gained tho right to meet Penman by defeating Brodie- in tho final of the losers' class. When Hilliker and Brodie resumed play to-day, tlfo match stood one game to Hilliker and one drawn. Tho third game was very stubborn. Hilliker seemed to have the worst of the position in an "end game/' but ho worked a f tetty coup on Brodie, and won both name and match. The contest between Penman and Hilliker commenced tonight: Two games were played, and, after a stubborn contest, both were drawn. The match will bo continued to-morrow afternoon. CENSUS. • Tlmaru, April 25. The population of Gcraldino County is given as 8059, including the Borough's of Goraldino (915) and Temuka (1741). The total at the time of the previous census was 5027. .
