..THE ELECTIONS. ... . (By Teleiraph.—Soecial Correspondent.! — ' Palmerston, April 25. The monthly meeting of the High School Board of Governors was held last night, Mr. W. H. Collingwood (chairman) presiding. It was decided to call for fresh tenders for the erection of engineering class-rooms. The rector's report showed that there were 206 names on tho roll, two. .new boys 'having joined during the month. ; The. average attendance had.-been, .194.. The director of: tho Technical Schoq) ; report ed that fifty classes are now working, the teaching staff numbered '24,' and tho students ■■totalled 325, being fifteen more than at the same period last year. Tho weekly ; attendance now totalled 715. A marked improvement" was noticeable in tho work-of the pupils, and it was proposed to hold anexhibition of tho work in June. It was proposed to start classes in veterinary science and sheep-shearing as soon as possible. .. The Old Boys' Football Club was granted the use of the gymnasium for practice. Trains from Hawkc's Bay and Wairarapa were all behind time in theirarrival at- Palmerston yesterday, the reason being . minor mishaps to the engines. An extremely long ■ cortege followed the remains of the .late. Mr. Albert to the Palmerston cemetery, and the funeral service was conducted~"TJy" tho, : Rev.. A Jackeytown resident, Mr. J. Buick, was admitted to tho "hospital last night in an unconscious state, suffering from' injuries through being thrown from a: trap. His condition improved slightly during tho day, but ho is in a critical state.
