CENSUS RETURNS.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) VVanganui, April 24. Returns supplied by the census onu--ir.erator give the population of the.borough of Wangamn as 10,930, as against 8175 at last cesisus. To this'must hoadded tho 'immediate suburbs of Wanganui East (1735), Gonvillo (155-1), and Castlecliff (630), making the population > of Gicnter Wanganui.l4,Bs2 in all. Pahiatua, April 24. Tho census returns for the Pahiatua Borough showed the population as numbering 1358, as compared with 1371 in 1006; Pahiatua county, 3396 j against 3674 in 1906. The decreases are due to ' smaller families. Tho volume of business transacted has increased considerably since last census. Auckland, April 2J. The census return for Dcvonport borough 'gives 7010, an increase of about 2000 on tho previous census.
