KING'S FESTIVAL.
Considering the wet evening, a large crowd of people patronised the King's Festival, when the semi-finals of the tug-of-war were got forward another step. The Drivers' team was "pitted against Tramway, .and, after a pull of 12J- minutes, the former achieved # runaway victory over their opponents, pulling.them from the battens, this evening the Marathon race will bo run off, when C. Rowberry, the Wellington harrier five-mile champion, will appear, as will also L. Baxter, the Wellington provincial three-mile champion ; Fitzgerald, the walking champion and also winner of fastest time in last week's Marathon; and J. Finn, an ex-English champion harrier. It will bo remembered that F:im won last week's Marathon, which was to. Island Bay. Hodson, the Brooklyn harrier five-milo champion, is also on the list of competitors. i On Wednesday evening a further stop will be made with the semi-final of tho tug-of-war, when Pioneers will pull a team from Staples and Co. Competitors for tho Marathon race aro requested to note that it is the intention of the management to get tho race off to time, at 7.30. The dances, under the direction of Signor Borzoni, again took tho eye of the public last night.
