While- lowering t h " water work in the other levels will be suspended Old Uauraki—Tho new reef at the 400 ft! level contains a good body of ore, which shows colours of gold. In No. 1 block two stopca are in progress, strong colours of gold being seen in Ko. 9. A few pieces of picked stone were selected from No. 6 stope in No. 2 block. Two stopee arc in progress in the north block, and about a pound of picked stono was selected from No. 9 stope.
Waihi Extended—Tho manager of tho Waihi' Extended mice, reporting for th» week ended April 18, states that the No" 2 crosscut at No. 5 level was advanced 22ft. from the main level. In the drive east on the south-east lode the face has been advanced to 48ft. from the main crosscut, 4ft. of stone being exposed. Tho stone continues to show a little improvement, being harder and more kindly in appearance. Waihi Grand Junction.—The new tube mills recently installed by the Grand Junction Company are now in commission, and tho average tonnage of ore being treated ranges from 350 to 100 tons per day, as compared with abont 3CO tons prior to tho addition to the plant. The new reef recently intersected south of the Martha, lode is 820 ft. cast of the main north drivo at No. 5 level, and continues to discloso a strong body of oiiartz going oast, but the ore is low grade at nrc-ent. The sinking of the No. 1 shaft for No. 6 level has been resumed, and, provided no unexpected delay occurs in tho cutting of, the .Empire reef nr.d drainage of the lode svstem n.t tho 115Cft. level in tho Waihi mine, tho Grand Junction Coinnanv should interse.-t the Empire at No. 6 level about the end of the present year.
