MASTERTON NOTES.
WAIRARAPA RUGBY UNION. (By Telccraph.—Special Correspondent.! Masterton, April 23. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union was held at Carterfon on Saturday evening, delegates representing the whole of the clubs in the district being present. The balance-sheet showed a debit of Mi Os. Receipts for the year were approximately .£251), and expenditure .£31)"). Teams for various competitions were nominated as follow:—Red Star, senior, junior, and third-class; Carterlon and Masterton, senior, junior, and third-class; Gladstone, senior; Dalefield, junior and . third-class; Liberal, Junior and third-class. Seven days were allowed in which to make further nominations. Mr. D. K. Logan, of Masterton, was elected president for the ensuing y«:ir, and the following Management Committee was elected:—Messrs C Reid A. Booth, A. B. Charters, R. Ward, u! Chapman, W. Hart, and W. Barvillo! Messrs. Charters and Chapman were clotted delegates to tho Jv'ew Zealand Union. It was resolved to commence matches in all grades on Saturday, May 13, and fixtures will be drawn on May 6. The revised rales were adopted. It was decided to invite the representatives of the Thames Union to visit their district during the torn , . Permission was granted (9 the Msstertqn Friendly Societies' Coun. cil to hold their annual sevoii-a-sklo tournament. A young man named Butcher was arrested on a charge of the theft of ' a paddle. He will appear before the Court to-morrow. August Stem pa has been remanded to Marlon on a charge of issuing a valueless cheque. Mr. A. S. Mitchell, of Wellington, has been employed as architect to the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company in connection with the erection of a bacon factory.
