f EVENT ON KIMBOLTON ROAD. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, April 22. Mr. Fantham, a representative of the Wanganui Brewery Company, was admitted to a private hospital in Palmerston last evening, suffering with a broken, leg. It appears that he was riding a motor cycle along the Kimbolton Road when, in coming down a slight declivity, the driver of a trap failed to give him room to . pass, with the, result that he was forced so far on to the side of the road that tho cyclo capsized, with the result stated. The sufferer was brought to Palmerslon by Mr. Jacob in his motorcar.

At (ho inquest at Romulhill on the bodies of Joseph Bates and Frank Smith, killed through Hie rising of sludge in a mining shaft, the jury returned the following verdict:—"That Joseph Bates and P.
