ENTERTAINMENTS.

opera house.. ; ■■;,"»■; It is almost unnecessary to stato that , the Opera House was crowded once more on Saturday to,witness the., exciting career of "The Bad Girl ot the Family." Wherein lies the subtlety of appeal in this play is 'difficult to define, 'unless ■it be the ■circus-like, array of posters: that hit the. eye at every turn in the.city. The play is ordinary' East-End domestic melodrama, with the colour laid on thick, nnd -with'.a.purple patch or two to indicate the thorough-going villainy of the bad people who hotly' pursue the good through four acts of wild adventure. _ It doubtless makes a call on the primitive emotions. On "Wednesday next will be produced for four nights only, George A. .Dβ, Gray's successful Lyric Theatre,.London,"success "The Angel of His Dreams." This drama, •had a continuous run of 17 months at the Lyric Theatre, arid its production ■here should run "The Bad Girl of the : Family" a close second. London criticisms state that "sensation follows sensation through four thrilling acts." The spectacular effects are very fine. There is also a song in it, "Tho Angel of Sly Dreams," from which the play takes its name. The box plan is now on view at the Dresden.

. THEATRE ROYAL. • The excellent programme which has /t>een running at .the Theatre Eoyal for ! the past week was brought 'to a close on i Saturday night. The picture entitled "Babylas and the 'Panther," at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday evening, .created about as much Merriment as any comio film has' been known to produce- for some time. It is without doubt a capital picture, and it is to be hoped the panther' will be seen again in other compositions. "Flora," and her troupe of female acrobats was- another excellent film. The hall was crowded with patrons. To-night there will be a complete change. THE KING'S THEATRE. The King's Tlieatre was crowded on Saturday evening. An excellent series of '.pictures was screened, one of the best 'dramatic pieces being the "Gambler of the West," in which the manhood of a ■gambling saloon-keeper rises, above his deFire for gain. "Making Casks" was an interesting study, and scenic views included soma fine New Zealand beauty spots. Another new' programme, will '< be submitted this, evening.-.,. "■/' ' FULLERS' SKATING RINK. Skating is 'now in full swing in Wel-lington,-and the Olympia Rink, in Vivian Street, was exceedingly well patronised at each. session on Saturday. , Enthusiasts were loud.,in their praise of the floor, for it is in excellent condition, and every convenience for comfortable participation in tho art is given. Instructors are in attendance, and skaters are well catered for in every way. THE NEW THEATRE. Over 3000 persons are said to have paid for admission at the New Theatre en Saturday.
