Hutt ratepayers who attended Mr. E. P. Bunny's election meeting last evening breathed freely—they applauded, in fact—when the Mayor assured them that the Hutt would not be liable for any contributions to the cost of eastern approaches to the new pipe bridge. "Apparently," he said, in a reference to the subject, "the Mayor of I'ctono and the Wellington Corporation tried to get the Hutt Council to pay a portion of tho bill, hut when we heard of it, we promptly replied that we would not pay a penny. The Pctono and city corporations will pay for the eastern approaches." j. J. Curtis ana Co., Shipping, Forwarding, ami Customhouse Agents Customhouse Quay, move your f ur ! niture.
