» 'THE STAKT." Promptly at seven o'clock last evening the,first'starter in the motor reliability testVK'Tlis'p'atcKba 'for Waifawa, 'the ; principal controlling station in the 364 miles trial'. The rest followed at two minutes' intervals. The route to Waipawa (about ISO. miles) is via the Manawatu Gorge and Palmerston North. Tho_ competitors nro expected to reach Waipawa about 7.ls''o'clock this morning, and, after an interval'for breakfast; will be dispatched at 9 o'clock on the return journey to Wellington, via the Wairavapa—a distance of about 184 mile?. _ Along_ tho route are a number of controlling stations, at which each competitor is scheduled to arrive and depart at- a certain - time. Should he arrive before or after his time he is penalised. The first man is 'expected to reach the General Post Office, Wellington, at -7 o'clock to-night. The following were tho starters: Messrs. Collins, C. "D. Bridge, E'. S. Bender, W. H. Nimrno, W. Hvslop, B. Sutherland,. 11. Gastein,'W. Drafiin, E. Gilbert.
