HOKITIKA RACES.

The splendid weather which has been experienced by the racing clubs for their autumn meeting continued to-day, when the local club's gathering concluded. The attendance was only fair. The racing was of a first-class order. There were record fields, close and exciting finishes being the order of the day. The totalisator investments amounted to X 4051, which, with tho previous day's business, made a total of £8334 for the meeting. Tho following aro the results:— MINERS' PURSE HANDICAP, of 25 sovs. Seven furlongs.—Miss Sylvia, 9st. 21b., 1; The Orient, Gst. 71b., 2; Pure Rose, 75t..131b., 3. AA'airapara also started. Hillspring was left at the post. Miss Sylvia took command shortly after tho start, and won easily. A good race, resulted between tho other placed horses. Time, lmin. 31sec. ELECTKIC HANDICAP, of 40 sovs. Fivo furlongs.—Millionaire, list. 71b., 1; Montague, 7st. 121b., 2; Ycodel, Sst. 31b., 3. Also started: Surmount, Bst. . 101b.; Katua, Sst. Sib.; Balmy Breeze, Sst. 31b.; Featherstonc, 7st. 121b.; Expansion, 7st. 121b.; Jennie Colleen, 7st. 61b.; Glenroek, 7st.; Seaspray, Gst. 71b.. A splendid race. Won by a short length. Time, lmin. osec. PROVINCIAL HANDICAP TROT, of 30 sovs. One mile and a. hall'.—AYcdgewoorl, 23sec., 1; Mount Camelback, 19sec, 2; Andante, lOssc, 3. Also started: Blacksand scr.; Comrade, 4sec.; Amber Tips. Gsec.j AVestland, 9sec.; Convent Bell, 10 sec; Discovery 11, Usee; Chips, Usee; A r ictory, 17sec.; Royal Princess, 23sec. ; Omega, 27sec; Vivitto, 27sec.; Old Ginger, 17sec. Loyal Lady, Nut, and Sidus wero scratched. AVcdgewood trotted consistently throughout, and won with a good deal to spare. A good race resulted among tho other placed horses. Time, 4min. 11 1-osec. EASTER HANDICAP.-AYild Bird, Sst. 41b., 1; The Cornet, Bst, 2; Tangeroa, Sst. lib., 3. Also started: King Try, Sst. 81b.; Aberration, Sst.; Gold Braid, Sst. 81b.,AVahfarewaro, Sst. Sib.; First View, 7st. 51b.; The Orient, 7st. Gib. Nordoff. Negative and Hillspring were scratched. AVild Bird went to the front and was never headed. A ding-dong finish between the other placed horses resulted, tho rest of the field being close up. Time, lmin. Usee.' COUNTY HANDICAP TF.OT, of 35 sovs. Two .miles.—Andante, lSsee, 1; Teresima, Msec, 2; Mount Camelback, 35sec., 3. Also started: Blacksand, Gsoc; Amber Tips, lisec.; llua Tapua, l.sec; Rita H., ISsec.; Parana:, lSsec; Chips, 19;ee.; Marmot, 20sec.; Malabar, 31sec. ; and Omega, -lOsec. This was a splendid race, the placed horses being closo together. Time, sinin. 29sce. AYELTER-AVEIGHT HANDICAP, of 45 sovs. Six furlongs and a hall'.—North Polo, list. 31b., 1; Miss Sylvia, 9st. 71b., 2; Hillspring, Sst. lib., 3. Also started: Waiwarowarc, Sst. 121b.; Negative, Sst. 71b.; First View, Sit. 91b. Divorce and Obligate were scratched. This was another excellent race, probably tho best of the dav.
